NEW! Designer Handbag & shoe trail - add some retail therapy to your holiday! What we think: This fabulous spacious family home is ideal for one or two families looking to get away from it all in the Marche countryside. The house is set in a peaceful 3 acre meadow in the foothills of the Sibillini Mountains and has panoramic views from every window. This beautifully restored farmhouse has been thoroughly designed with children in mind and needs to have the ringing sounds of children’s laughter to realise its true potential! From the inside - with its carefully chosen duvet covers -to the outside, where the trampoline and swing set take pride of place in the garden, you can see that this house is most certainly a great venue for a fantastic family holiday. We also think that this is a place where adults will be as happy as the children; the property is cleverly restored and set within such a peaceful setting that we think the neither the grown ups or the children will want to leave. Inside With terracotta floor tiles throughout and traditional beamed ceilings, this house has all the features of an authentic Marchegiani farmhouse. The house is cool and spacious and provides plenty of clever touches to amuse and delight kids and adults alike. Downstairs, the open plan living accommodation is practical and good looking. The kitchen is cleverly designed to offer both practical details: piles of plastic plates and cups, alongside clever design and interesting original features. The kitchen has an electric oven with a gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer as well as a multitude of essentials such as olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The dining room has a large farmhouse table and chairs as well as a high chair for the younger diners. Alternatively there is a choice of places to eat when outside depending on the time of day and the position of the sun. There is a large brick BBQ and an enormous outdoor table and benches made from oak by a local carpenter. The outdoor eating area (loggia) is sheltered by a beautiful terracotta roof and with gorgeous views this is a super place to enjoy al fresco dining. Back inside, the sitting room is large and comfortable and features a working fireplace which would help to warm spring and autumn evenings. On that note, central heating throughout makes this a great place to spend Christmas and New Year. Upstairs on the first floor, there are 3 bedrooms and a modern, spacious family bathroom with a separate shower, loo and bidet. The master bedroom certainly has wow factor with its four poster bed, en-suite shower room and door to a large veranda. Like all the bedrooms in this house, the views from this room are stunning! A remote controlled ceiling fan (a feature in all the bedrooms) will help to supress the summer heat. The Pink Room is thoughtfully decorated with little girls in mind and has a set of twin beds and views over the garden in two directions. The third bedroom on this floor has a trio of single beds and will thrill the boys in your party. Parent Point: The door onto the terrace leads out onto tiled stairs which do not have a banister. Parents will have to keep the door shut to prevent little ones from wandering onto the terrace. Upstairs, on the top level, there is an open area which serves as a TV and sitting area and also features 2 double sofa beds. This could be an additional sleeping area or could be used as a chill-out zone for older kids and adults. The windows in this area all have shutters so it is possible to put a cot in this area. The double bedroom on this level is spacious and cool and has both an en-suite shower room and a small room with limited head height which contains a wardrobe. Once again this is a great place from which to enjoy the views. Outdoors Of primary importance is the pool which enjoys an elevated position on top of a grassy knoll. The pool is enclosed using chestnut pole fencing and netting with a bed of flowering shrubs. The pool has 1 metre wide steps and has both a deep and shallow end. The garden has a large lawn area enclosed by a brick wall. The garden then extends into a large meadow area beyond the wall and has both an enclosed TP trampoline and a swing and slide set. The dense trees and shrubbery on the outer edge of the garden deter small wanderers from straying too far and keep the garden private from the occasional passing tractor. The veranda is a lovely spot for a quiet breakfast away from the rest of the party and provides welcome shade in the afternoon. A gravelled area to the front of the house has enough parking for up to 4 cars and is gated. The overall impression when enjoying a glass of wine on the patio of this beautiful house is one of having escaped from the rigours of day to day life. And Beyond... The area in which this beautiful house is situated is teeming with things to do and places to go. The local town of Penna San Giovanni is a pretty hill town set into the hills of the Sibillini Mountains and has some wonderful restaurants and attractions such as the shoe factory. The factory supplies gorgeous hand crafted shoes to companies including brands such as Tod’s, and they are more than happy to let you in to observe the factory and even to buy. The Beaches The best sandy beach is Porto San Giorgio just 40 minutes drive away and comes highly recommended by families who know this area well. The beaches are remarkably family friendly and well managed with enclosed play areas, a multitude of restaurants that will welcome your children as well as loos, showers and many other facilities that makes taking little ones anywhere alot easier. Monte Conero and its pretty resorts of Numana, Sirolo and Portanova are an hour's drive away and make for a great excursion. You can enjoy lunch in one of the lovely open air restaurants and then spend a lazy afternoon on the beach, just like the local Italians. The Mountains The Sibillini Mountains are a prominent fixture around the house, and are a 30 minute drive away. Skiing, mountain biking and other outdoor pursuits are catered for here, making sure you and the kids will never be bored! A great restaurant that we can heartily recommend close to the house is Pippo e Gabriella in San Angelo in Pontano. This restaurant is warm and friendly, and the food is absolutely wonderful! Perfect for a family meal (we personally recommend the mixed grill and home made pasta). Duilia, also located in San Angelo, is another lovely place to enjoy lunch. It is set adjoining the local clock tower high above this pretty town hall and has fantastic views from its terrace of the Sibillini Mountains and the rolling countryside down to the Adriatic Coast.
